Media analysis with a critical academic stance towards racism
At what point does speech start to be racist? What does power of discourse mean? How does radio sound, when it is critical towards racism?
In this workshop we will discuss how to change the character of our broadcasts by taking a point of view against racist paradigms. We will look at the history of racism to understand, how it influences our languages and societies today. We will be sharpening our power of analytical reasoning with the help of case studies from the world of radio. We will develop common tools and steps to shape our work critical, but positive through cooperative exchange.

Quand le langage devient-il raciste? Comment sonne une radio qui a la prétention d’être critique par rapport au racisme?
Dans ce workshop nous allons traiter la question de comment nous pouvons changer la radio en adoptant une perspective critique du racisme. Nous allons thématiser l’histoire du racisme afin d’analyser son empreinte sur notre langage et notre société. Ensuite, nous allons aiguiser notre capacité d’analyse à l’aide d’exemples radiophoniques. Des échanges entre participant_es permettront d’élaborer des mesures et outils pratiques utiles pour structurer positivement notre propre travail.
